Our Mission
ThinkKits exists because of a simple belief: every child deserves access to research-backed math manipulatives, and every school leader deserves the data to fund them.
We build K-5 curriculum-aligned manipulative kits designed around one radical idea — the kit goes home with the student. Paired with a school intelligence platform that tracks federal funding across Title I-eligible schools nationwide, ThinkKits gives educators both the tools and the pathway to pay for them.
The Equity Story
The achievement gap doesn't start in the classroom. It begins at 3 PM, when the bell rings.
Students in well-resourced homes go home to bookshelves, math games, and parents with time. Low-income students go home with nothing to practice with — no manipulatives, no fraction tiles, no base-ten blocks. The gap widens every evening, every weekend, every summer break.
ThinkKits changes that. Our kits are designed to travel — from school to home and back again. When a student can hold a fraction bar at the kitchen table, practice doesn't stop at the school door. That's not an incremental improvement. That's a structural change in how we close the gap.
What We Build
ThinkKits is two things — a physical product and a data platform — designed to work together.
Manipulative Kits
Curriculum-aligned K-5 math kits with 107 items per student — base-ten blocks, fraction tiles, geometric solids, measurement tools, and more. Every kit is built to align with state standards and designed to go home with the student for practice beyond the classroom.
School Intelligence Platform
A data marketplace covering every U.S. public school. Search schools by demographics, funding status, Title I eligibility, and poverty indicators. Identify funding sources, generate compliant purchase justifications, and track allocations — all from a single dashboard.
The Market
There are the nationwide Title I-eligible school universe in the United States — schools serving the students who need hands-on learning materials the most. These schools receive federal funding specifically earmarked for closing achievement gaps, and math manipulatives are an allowable expense under Title I, Title IV-A, IDEA Part B, and Title III.
Our platform tracks federal education funding across these programs, helping schools identify exactly which dollars they can use and how to write the justifications that pass compliance review.
Pricing That Makes the Case for Itself
We designed our pricing around a number that changes the conversation with any budget-holder:
Student Kit
Complete Classroom
Year 2+ Refill
Per-student-per-day cost calculated over 180 school days. Additional tiers available for grade-level, half-school, and full-school deployments.
Manuel Ortiz (Mj)
Mj founded ThinkKits after years of working with K-5 educators and seeing the same problem repeated across every school he visited: teachers spending their own money on manipulatives, schools leaving federal funding on the table, and low-income students going home with nothing to practice with.
ThinkKits was born from the conviction that the data to find funding and the products worth funding should come from the same place — and that the most important feature of any learning kit is a handle, so the student can carry it home.
