What It Does
The Coverage Map plots 105,000+ schools on an interactive map using real NCES coordinates. You can color-code schools by any metric: FRL rate, funding gap, equity score, enrollment, or Title I status. Click any school to view its full profile.
Use layer controls to switch between data visualizations and zoom into specific regions, districts, or individual schools.
Who It's For
Educators, district planners, vendors, and researchers who want a geographic view of school data. Vendors use it to identify clusters of high-need schools. Educators use it to compare their school against neighbors.
How to Use It
- Open the Coverage Map from the sidebar under the School Intelligence Suite.
- Use the layer selector in the top-right to choose which metric to visualize (e.g., FRL rate, funding gap).
- Zoom and pan the map to focus on your region of interest.
- Click any school marker to see a summary popup with key metrics.
- Click "View Full Profile" in the popup to open the complete School Profile.
- Use the filter panel to narrow schools by state, district, or demographic criteria.
Tips
- Switch between layers to spot patterns. Schools with high FRL rates often cluster near schools with large funding gaps.
- Use the map alongside Lead Finder to visually verify that your target list covers the right geographic areas.
- Zoom out to state level for a big-picture view, then zoom into specific districts for detail.
