How to Use the Funding Engine

Score and rank every funding mechanism available to your school.

What It Does

The Funding Engine evaluates every federal, state, and local funding program against your school's profile. It scores each program on three weighted factors: funding fit (40%), school need (35%), and readiness (25%). The result is a ranked list of the programs most likely to deliver funding to your school.

Beyond scoring, the engine can generate submission packages with pre-filled justifications and find stacking opportunities where multiple programs can be combined for greater impact.

Who It's For

Educators and district administrators who need to identify and prioritize the best funding opportunities for their schools. Also valuable for grant writers who want a data-driven starting point before drafting applications.

How to Use It

  1. Open the Funding Engine from the sidebar under the Funding Suite.
  2. Enter a school name or NCES ID in the search bar to load the school profile.
  3. Review the scoring summary cards showing total eligible programs, estimated funding, and top-scoring mechanisms.
  4. Click any program in the ranked list to expand its detailed scoring breakdown by factor.
  5. Use the "Generate Package" button on high-scoring programs to create a pre-filled submission package.
  6. Check the "Stacking" tab to see which programs can be combined for maximum funding.
